Early last year, I did my first solo PV install. ...At cost, for an Oakland friend. He recommended me to his neighbor, who was all about it but has a rooftop deck. One option was to build a rooftop-deck PV shade structure. But that'd be a heavy lift.

A few months earlier, super-pro PV installer Nick told me that his friend Rob makes PV-array awning brackets (through his company Power-Structures). The homeowner had a nice south-facing wall... I could install on that!

And I did. The wife was wary of industrial ugliness... it was a sweet moment when she looked up at the finished installation and said under her breath: "It's... beautiful". I'm glad I decided (last minute) to get the brackets powder-coated black.

That's what I'm saying.
